On July 25th, 2021 PS&D held a beach cleanup at Allertons Beach in order to support Kauai National Tropical Botanical Garden. It is the mission of the National Tropical Botanical Garden to “enrich life through discovery, scientific research, conservation, and education by perpetuating the survival of plants, ecosystems, and cultural knowledge of tropical regions”.
As corporate sponsors of the National Tropical Botanical Garden and a major supporter of their mission to help this island stay rich with life, we set out to help clean up Allertons beach in order to create a safe nesting ground for the sea turtles that choose Allertons as their resting place. At the time there was debris covering the beach making it necessary to unblock the pathways for these turtles to lay their eggs, this cleanup was important because this beach is one of only four locations on the island that turtles choose to nest at.
Seventeen PS&D volunteers came down on Sunday, July 25th to help clean up and the event was a great success! It is a goal of PS&D as a local Kauai tire shop to give back to the island and the community that we’ve been a part of for 50+ years, this beach cleanup event was the perfect opportunity to do so. This event was PS&D’s first volunteer work event as a team and it went so well that we are hoping to continue events like this one on a quarterly basis. The team felt amazing knowing that they worked together and made a difference!
